Moving Ahead 2010: Sustainable Transportation Solutions for the 21st Century
Moving Ahead 2010, one of our nation’s most significant conferences on advanced transportation technologies, was held at The Ohio State University, May 2-4, 2010. Bascom & Adams was proud to be the official event planner for Moving Ahead 2010: Sustainable Transportation Solutions for the 21st Century in collaboration with The Ohio State University and Clean Fuels Ohio, a statewide nonprofit organization and designated U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities Coalition.
We expected a large and varied audience of nearly 1,000 people with more than 500 industry leaders; federal, state and local policymakers; researchers; investors; students; and media representatives to join the event as we sought to understand how new innovations impact jobs, the environment and national security.
The primary goal of the conference was to advance federal, state and local policies that will help reduce our dependence on petroleum for transportation and promote economic development. Discussions focused on fuels and technologies for cars, trucks, rail, aviation and transit systems as well as other strategies that could move us ahead to a better transportation future.

Columbus Regional Airport Authority Inline Checked Baggage Screening System Project Networking and Pre-Conference Meeting
Columbus Regional Airport Authority's Baggage Handling System (BHS) conveyors will connect the existing ticket counter belts to the matrix building and route checked baggage through the TSA’s bag clearing equipment and then sort baggage back to the existing Bag Makeup Units. A project of this scope requires integration of this facility into the existing building BMS, ACS, CCTV, LAN, Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, Mechanical, and Electrical systems. This project will be broken into two bid packages: BHS and General Building.
The Networking and Pre-Conference meeting was designed to bring together Prime Contractors and DBE firms in hopes of creating prime-subcontractor relationships and to learn about the scope and construction for the Inline Checked Baggage Screening System Federal Stimulus Project. This project will be bid by the CRAA to a general contractor who may seek subcontracting opportunities in many construction areas.

19 days and counting...Bascom & Adams stepped up to the challenge of planning and participating in the 18th Annual AIDSWALK CENTRAL OHIO
Did you know that right here in the USA, every 9 1/2 minutes someone's brother, mother, sister, father, or neighbor is infected with HIV?
Saturday, July 25, 2009, hundreds of central Ohio participants laced-up for the largest HIV/AIDS awareness event in Franklin County, and Bascom & Adams was there to provide its special event and marketing expertise. The Walk, hosted by the Columbus AIDS Task Force and sponsored by The Ohio State University Medical Center, Walgreens, FACES (Family AIDS Clinic and Educational Services) at Nationwide Childrens Hospital, Continuum Church, Franklin Park Conservatory and Chihuly Collection, Kroger and All Out Foundation, raised more than $50,000. NBC4 Anchor Marcus Thorpe served as emcee during the Opening Ceremonies with City Council members Hearcel F. Craig, Troy Miller and Eileen Paley speaking during the program. Also addressing the crowd was Antonio Smith, former OSU Buckeye and corner back for the San Diego Chargers.
